The Khumbu region of Nepal is the Sherpa heart of the Himalaya, home to the most famous trekking route in the world.

everest-region-mapThe Khumbu region of Nepal is the Sherpa heart of the Himalaya, home to the most famous trekking route in the world – the trek to Everest Base Camp. Beginning our journey in the medieval city of Kathmandu, we explore the fascinating Bhoudanath Stupa and Pashupatinath temple, before taking a spectacular flight across the Himalaya to the starting point of our trek at Lukla.

Taking ample time to acclimatise we make our way slowly up the Khumbu Valley, each night accommodated in luxury eco lodges. Once reaching the famous gateway of Namche Bazaar, we branch off on less travelled trails to the picturesque village of Thame and then onto Kongde, where our exclusive lodge is positioned to capture stunning views of Himalayan giants such as Mount Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8516m) and the unforgettable pyramid of Ama Dablam (6812m).

From Kongde we take a helicopter flight above snowy summits to Mount Everest, where we sight the route to the top of the world’s highest peak, before swinging to the south and returning to Lukla, where we pick up our Himalayan Mountain flight back to Kathmandu.

This is Himalayan trekking at it’s best, an unforgettable journey amongst the worlds tallest peaks in the company of expert leader Tashi Tenzing.

Nepal with Greg Grainger Adventures

At Greg Grainger Adventures we aim to ensure your journey in the Himalaya is a life changing experience, and not just another holiday. Our style of travel in Nepal is unique – rather than undertaking a committing trek, it is more that of a series of comfortable day walks, interrupted by our luxury lodge accommodation each night, with fine food prepared by expert chefs, and helicopter transport out of the mountains.

This leaves you to fully appreciate the tremendous mountain scenery only the Himalaya can offer, whilst enjoying the local Sherpa culture up close. With the support of our friendly staff and unique style of trip we are confident that your trip in Nepal will be a life changing one!
